RECIPE DETAILS
One of the biggest trends in the brewing scene at the moment is a sessionable, yet hoppy beer. Hence the explosion of styles like the XPA (or Extra Pale Ale), which are low- to medium-ABV beers with plenty of hop aroma and character.
These beers are designed to be enjoyed over a long period without leaving the drinker getting too taxed by bitterness or alcohol. The XPA is the more Australian name for styles such as Session IPA or Pacific Ale that you may have seen around.
An award-winning leader in this field is Balter from Australia. Their Balter XPA has been on the market since 2016 and is one of the highest-selling beers in the Australian Craft Beer market. This 5.4% features Centennial, Citra and Amarillo hops and goes down an absolute treat.
Now, you can brew your own homebrew version of the beer that has been voted best craft beer in Australia at least twice at GABS (including a bunch of podiums).
