Not quite as well known as other dark styles, Baltic Porter is a high ABV, lager yeast fermented, full bodied beer. This style of beer requires longer fermenting and conditioning, but the final result is worth the wait.
You should experience clean, yet complex flavours with a smooth and bold mouthfeel due to the colder and longer fermentation. Set and forget this beer and then be able to enjoy it when it's truly ready.
The recipe calls for 250g of brown sugar to be added during the last ten minutes of the boil. We don't provide the brown sugar, due to storage and the ease at which you can get it. We definitely recommend adding the sugar as it helps with the mouthfeel.

5.5kg Joe White Traditional Ale
1.0kg Weyermann Munich
0.5kg Weyermann Caramunich
0.25kg Joe White Chocolate Malt
0.25g Weyerman Roasted Barley
0.25kg Rolled Oats
- Hop Schedule:
20g Magnum @ 60 minutes
20g Magnum @ 20 minutes
10g Magnum @ 10 minutes
250g Brown Sugar @ 10 minutes (not included)
- Yeast:
2x 11.5g W-34/70 Pitched @ 12°c
