Like the Carapils, the Caramunich® is designed to help with head retention, mouthfeel and a fuller body. You can sometimes use it in lighter beers, but it is generally used in IPAs, Porters, Red Ales and the like. Being a lot bolder in the caramel flavours, aromas and colours it gives off, it is recommended to use it sparingly during the brew day. Up to 5% for lighter styles like Pale Ale, while you can go up to 10% for the porters and stouts. Type 1 is the lowest of three kinds of Caramunich®, in regards to EBC and colour.
